Virtualswimteacher.com was devised by Benjamin Roberts, an experienced Swimming Teacher, Life Guard and School Teacher who understands fully how much parents enjoy the challenges associated with teaching their own children how to swim. Therefore this site will give you as much useful knowledge as possible to make their efforts totally successful, leading to an enjoyable and worthwhile experience for both parent and child.

Whilst working in a pool environment for several years, Ben witnessed countless attempts by parents trying desperately hard to teach their child to swim. Unfortunately, they lacked the basic knowledge and therefore, their attempts were at the worst in vain and at the best, encouraged bad practice. With guidance, teaching a child to swim is really not that difficult.

What Ben is trying to achieve via this website is to combine his in depth understanding of how children learn with his vast knowledge and experience of teaching children to swim and then to pass on this invaluable expertise to the millions of parents and guardians around the world who try so hard to teach their children to swim but simply need that extra bit of guidance.

The site is also ideal for those parents who are feeling the effects of the ‘credit crunch’. Swimming Lessons are not cheap. However, rather than simply stopping your child’s lessons or postponing their start, virtualswimteacher.com ensures that the learning process is not hampered.

Finally, even if your children are having swimming lessons, the programme is ideal to structure and guide you in your practice sessions. When I teach children to swim, I usually only see the pupil for half an hour per week. I always tell the parents that this is simply not enough water time and that practise in between lessons is vital. Virtualswimteacher.com can give you the guidance to structure your practise sessions.

The whole programme consists of five easy to follow, detailed, downloadable lesson plans which get progressively harder. They are designed to be followed in sequence, beginning with simple water confidence practises, progressing to floating, gliding, kicking, front crawl arm movements and breathing. If, however you are teaching a child who, for instance, is already water confident, then Lesson One would not be necessary and you could start with Lesson Two. If your child can swim but has not learnt to breathe in the stroke, then you could start at Lesson Four and so on. Read each Lesson description carefully and decide where best your starting point is.

Each plan is fully illustrated in colour. The text is aimed at you, the adult, where as the Illustrations are aimed at the child and depict the relevant body positions needed for success in each lesson. The time taken to complete each lesson plan will vary from child to child. It will also depend on the child’s ability at the outset and how regularly you practise.

vitualswimmingteacher.com is a unique concept. What makes it extra special is the contact button. If you should get into difficulty or find that things are not going to plan, simply email me or one of my instructors, giving details of the problem and we will email back with our advice to help you overcome the problem. There is no extra charge for this and that is what sets this website apart from books of a similar nature.
